Meet Kai, an experienced and passionate adventure traveler and guide at heart, with particular expertise in guiding trekking expeditions in the Drakensberg mountains of Africa. With a background in organizing expeditions since high school, Kai has a wealth of experience in high-profile expeditions, including the Mike Horn Pangaea Expedition. In addition to his thirst for bigger objectives, Kai is also dedicated to using his expeditions as a positive contribution to environmental and social projects.   Kai’s most recent series of expeditions, the KAPE 2 Expeditions, exemplifies his commitment to minimal environmental impact while still contributing to social initiatives and climbing big mountains. In addition, Kai holds a Bachelor’s degree in South African and African History with a major in French Literature from the University of Cape Town. His French fluency will be an asset for those who prefer to communicate in French.   When not guiding, Kai also works with PANTHERA on wildlife conservation projects in West Africa and the Middle East. He is part of various camera-trap deployment teams for leopard conservation. Kai splits his time between his home base at the foot of Table Mountain and the French Alps, where he spends most of his free time.   Kai’s notable achievements include climbing Kilimanjaro as part of an epilepsy youth awareness campaign, participating in the North Face Mount Elbrus Expedition, sailing across the Atlantic to climb peaks in the South American Andes, and completing a solo cycle from Cape Town to Kalahari. He has also won the Night-Jar Adventure of the Year Readers’ Choice 2013 and received Full Colours for Sport Climbing from the Mountain & Ski Club at the University of Cape Town.   Kai is qualified as an NQF/AQN Mountain, Trekking, Multi-pitch Rock Climbing leader, and MDT Mountain Guide (specialized in Abseiling and Multi-pitch rock climbing leader). With his extensive experience guiding trekking expeditions in the Drakensberg mountains, Kai is a great choice for those looking for a guide with a wealth of experience, a dedication to environmental and social projects, and a passion for experiencing the great outdoors.
